Division of Training, Education & Research The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Sciences is involved in a broad array of training of advanced graduate students, and in continuing education of its permanent staff. From a quantitative perspective, the Psychiatry Residency program is the largest and most intensive program. The department also is currently responsible for the field training of medical students from Stonybrook University and from the N.Y. College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYCOM). Further, the Psychology Division runs Psychology Internship and Psychology Externship programs. Also, the Department is fortunate to have social work students from Adelphi University do their hands-on clinical work here. The Department also is a fieldwork site for many of Long Island's nurses in training. Psychiatry Residency Program
