NUMC together with A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility and five community clinics is one of the major healthcare systems in Nassau County serving all types of patients regardless of their financial class. NUMC is a level I trauma center and a Department of Health certified stroke center. Even though at this time there is no training program in Neurology, residents from Medicine, Psychiatry, and Pediatrics gain their clinical training through our department. Medical students from SUNY - Stony Brook and NYCOM rotate through our department for their 4th year clerkship rotation and rate their clinical experience as extremely invaluable; the department is a desirable site for medical training. Conferences are held in the Department Office periodically. Combined conferences with the Neuroradiology Department are held on every 3rd Thursday of the month. Furthermore, there is opportunity for clinical research and projects to be completed. |
