Meadowbrook Hospital opens in 1935 to serve indigent residents of Nassau County.
New 19 story Dynamic care Building with 530 beds opens in 1974. Meadowbrook Hospital renamed Nassau County Medical Center, a safety net level I trauma center and teaching hospital.
In 1999, Nassau Health Care Corporation, a public benefit corporation of New York State, is created and assumes control of the Nassau County Medical Center, A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility and seven community health centers. Bonds totaling $260 million were floated with $82 million going to Nassau County.
NCMC renamed Nassau University Medical Center in 2001. NHCC also becomes known as the NuHealth System in 2009, with an operating budget of $543M.
NUMC activity in 2009 included:

76,916 emergency room visits
23,861 discharges of inpatients
3980 ambulatory surgical visits

Holly Patterson had an average daily census of 581 in 2009.
Family Health Centers recorded 78,645 visits in 2009.
NuHealth employed 3666 in 2009, NUMC had a staff of 2985, AHP had a staff of 595 and the health centers had a staff of 86.
