Nassau Health Care Corporation:
1,200-bed health care system comprised of: Nassau University Medical Center, a 530-bed tertiary care teaching hospital located in East Meadow; A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility, an 589-bed skilled nursing facility located in Uniondale; and seven community health centers located throughout Nassau County.
Governed by a 15-member Board of Directors, comprised of business and community leaders from the Long Island area.
Total budget of almost half a billion dollars
NHCC employs over 3,600; over 250 volunteers

Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC):
Opened in 1935 as Meadowbrook Hospital; renamed in 1974 as Nassau County Medical Center, renamed in 2001 as Nassau University Medical Center
Designated hospital on Long Island to care for the President of the United States
Level 1 Trauma Center (one of three in Nassau County) with helicopter landing pad
Only hospital in Nassau County with self-contained Burn Center
Region’s largest multi-place Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber and Wound Care Center
Blood Donor Center
Designated Safe Haven – secret safe place for newborns
19 story, 1,000,000 square-foot Dynamic Care building
Neonatal intensive care unit is a regional center
Treats more than 80,000 people annually in the emergency room and 250,000 in over 85 specialty clinics
Serves 22 residency and fellowship training programs and 300 residents
Houses the emergency medical control base which serves all of Nassau County
Staff of 2,600 at NUMC
Serves as a major teaching campus of the Health Science Center of the State University of New York at Stony Brook and New York College of Osteopathic Medicine

Licensed by the New York State Department of Health and approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education
Member of the Hospital Association of New York State, the Nassau/Suffolk Hospital Council, Greater New York Hospital Association, the National Association of Public Hospitals, the American Association of Blood Banks and the Association of American Medical Colleges.
Accredited by the Commission on Cancer for Teaching Hospital Cancer Programs

Location
Located on Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow, Long Island and one mile east of the Meadowbrook Parkway. Ideally located in the center of Nassau County with easy access to Manhattan (40 Minutes by car or train) and two airports, LaGuardia and Kennedy.
