Welcome

The Nassau University Medical Center's Department of Anesthesiology sponsors a Residency Training Program which is affiliated with Saint Francis Hospital, and South Nassau Communities Hospital. The Medical Center is a major teaching affiliate of the School of Medicine of the State University of New York at Stony Brook and the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and is an affiliate of the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System. The institutions, which administer a total of over 30,000 anesthetics per year, provide an ideal setting for anesthesia training. The training is enhanced by the presence of Trauma, Perinatal, and Burn Centers. Our goal is to prepare physicians for achieving certification by the American Board of Anesthesiology and for a successful career in anesthesiology.

The Anesthesiology Department offers a fully accredited three-year residency program devoted to training physicians to become outstanding anesthesiologists. We take pride in providing rotations and assignments based on educational value. The department has high expectations of our residents; however, we acknowledge that differences in learning styles exist, and we will provide each resident with the personal attention that he or she needs in order to succeed.

We welcome your interest in our residency program, and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Sincerely,

Raymond Pesso, MD
Chairman
