Maureen Roarty
Maureen Roarty has been appointed to the position of Vice President for Human Resources at the Nassau Health Care Corporation (NHCC) effective March 9, 2009. Prior to receiving this well-deserved promotion, Ms. Roarty obtained over 20 years of experience in the human resources field through progressively responsible leadership positions as Director of Human Resources, and Personnel Officer for both the NHCC Corporate Human Resource Department, as well as the A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility.
Ms. Roarty started her career in Human Resources in the financial industry as a Personnel Manager at Oppenheimer and Co. in New York City where she developed and implemented a successful Operations Management Trainee Program. She was also instrumental in automating their manual employee personnel recordkeeping system. In 1987, she joined the A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility (AHP), before it was part of the Nassau Health Care Corporation.
As Personnel Officer at AHP, Maureen was responsible for all aspects of human resources administration. Her responsibilities included interpreting and administering Nassau County Civil Service rules and regulations pertaining to recruitment and employment, and assuring that the terms of the collective bargaining agreement were enforced. She formulated and enforced Human Resource policies and procedures and successfully reduced workers compensation costs.
As part of an effort to centralize the human resource function, Ms. Roarty transferred to the NHCC Human Resource department in 2005 where she continued to manage all aspects of human resources. She has served as the Corporation’s Equal Employment Opportunity Officer, as well as a Team Leader on the Human Resource Business Process redesign workgroup and the Human Resources Joint Commission team.
In her new position of Vice President for Human Resources, Ms. Roarty will be responsible for leading all human resource strategic planning functions, as well as evaluating processes and recommending efficiency improvements. In this regard, she will continue to oversee recruitment, employment, classification, compensation, labor relations, benefit administration, and workers compensation. Maureen also has plans to enhance professional development and training opportunities for administrative, managerial and ancillary staff. Ms Roarty graduated from Siena College in Loudonville, New York in 1986 with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology.
In 1993, Ms. Roarty received a graduate certificate in Human Resource Management from Adelphi University School of Business Administration.
